By Road

It takes as little as 5 hours to travel by car over the Salang Pass, which links Kabul with Mazar-i-Sharif. The road has been improved and is possible with a normal car

Mercedes buses leave Kabul around 04:00 to 05:00 in order to get ahead of traffic for arrivals into Mazar at 13:00 or later. A seat costs 400 Afg (about $5).

It is also possible to travel from Sheberghan, Kunduz and Uzbekistan.
